Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and its sequel are two of the most cinematic video games in years, so it was only natural that they would be the inspiration for a film. And, in a disappointment to Firefly fans everywhere, we now have an actor attached to the film that isn’t Nathan Fillion.
In an interview with MTV, Mark Wahlberg has confirmed that he will be playing Nathan Drake in the upcoming Uncharted film, but also spoke a little more widely on the picture itself. David O. Russell (The Fighter) has begun writing and he has some interesting ideas for where he wants to take things. And these ideas involve trying to cast Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci.
Quoth Wahlberg:
I’m obviously in whatever David wants to do but the idea of it is so off the charts: De Niro being my father, Pesci being my uncle. It’s not going to be the watered-down version, that’s for sure.
